Amaravati farmers meet YS YS Jagan: assures all help.. Mavigun best alternative

Former Chief Minister Y.S. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has extended full support to farmers from the Amaravati capital region, assuring them of legal assistance and promising to stand by those facing land-related disputes and acquisition pressures. Addressing a delegation of farmers, YS Jagan said the experiences being narrated by them revealed a disturbing pattern of coercion, misuse of authority and disregard for farmers’ rights.

“Your Land is being taken even if you refuse”

YS Jagan said cases were emerging in which farmers who refused to participate in land pooling were still finding their lands being taken away, while plots linked to those lands were being allotted to others.

According to him, registrations were being completed in the names of third parties despite objections from landowners. Such incidents, he said, were not isolated but reflected a broader pattern of abuse.

“This shows the extent to which coercion and misuse of power have gone,” he told the farmers.

Preserve every Document, Every Piece of Evidence

Urging farmers to prepare for a legal battle, YS Jagan asked them to preserve every document, notice, survey record, photograph and video connected to their lands.

He said many of the documents now coming into the public domain were not easily available and revealed that even he had to pursue records under the Right to Information Act multiple times before obtaining them.

“I still have the original documents. These records must be collected and placed before the courts,” he said, calling for a coordinated legal challenge.

Dedicated Legal Support for Farmers

Assuring continued assistance, YS Jagan said a structured legal support system would be created for affected farmers.

Complaints would be documented, grievances examined and legal representation extended through the party’s legal wing. Farmers would be given direct access to legal teams and advocates who would assist them in pursuing remedies through the courts.

“We will stand with you at every stage and support you in every possible way,” he said.

Reservoir Projects Trigger New Farmer Complaints

One of the major concerns raised during the interaction related to reservoir and infrastructure works allegedly affecting agricultural lands.

Farmers complained that soil was being pushed around their lands, natural water flows were being altered and water was being diverted into cultivated fields. According to the complaints, these actions were damaging the natural character of agricultural land and making cultivation increasingly difficult.

“Farmland is being Deliberately Damaged”

YS Jagan referred to specific complaints where canals had been dug through private agricultural lands and water had been diverted into fields.

In one case discussed during the meeting, a farmer’s three-acre holding was allegedly rendered unusable after excavation activities and diversion of water. Fertile topsoil was washed away and the land’s productivity severely reduced.

He argued that such actions were not merely administrative decisions but had devastating consequences for farming families whose livelihoods depended entirely on those lands.

Call for Criminal Accountability

YS Jagan said incidents involving deliberate destruction of property, damage to livelihoods and misuse of official authority warranted criminal investigation.

A government, he said, is expected to protect farmers and citizens, not create circumstances that push them into distress.

“When authority is used to damage people’s property and destroy their livelihoods, accountability must follow,” he said.

“This is a Fight for Justice”

Ending on an emotional note, YS Jagan said the suffering of farmers could not be ignored indefinitely.

He told the gathering that those responsible for causing hardship to farmers would eventually face public judgment and legal scrutiny. Justice, he said, may be delayed, but it cannot be denied forever.

“Those who cause suffering to farmers cannot escape accountability. The day of justice will certainly come,” he said.
