A major political controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh after social activist and PURE Service Organisation founder Dr. Shaila Talluri levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment against an unnamed minister in the Chandrababu Naidu-led state cabinet, triggering intense debate across political and social circles.
Without disclosing the minister’s identity, Dr. Talluri claimed she possesses substantial evidence, including chat conversations, screenshots and other digital records, which she says support her allegations. She publicly appealed to Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh to initiate a fair, transparent and independent inquiry into the matter.
In a series of social media posts, Dr. Talluri stated that she is willing to submit all the evidence in her possession if the government demonstrates its commitment to conducting an unbiased investigation.
The activist alleged that the minister repeatedly sent her inappropriate messages and photographs while attempting to arrange meetings with her. She further claimed that the digital evidence remains available and can be verified during an official investigation.
Explaining why she had remained silent until now, Dr. Talluri said she deliberately avoided making the issue public because she did not want her social service activities for underprivileged children in Andhra Pradesh to suffer. However, she asserted that she could no longer remain silent and believed it was time for the truth to come before the public.
Raising broader questions about the treatment of women who speak out, she criticised the tendency to question why victims delay reporting alleged misconduct instead of focusing on the allegations themselves. She also urged authorities to examine whether any other women may have experienced similar behaviour from the minister concerned.
The allegations have rapidly gained traction on social media, with political observers closely watching whether the Andhra Pradesh government will respond or announce any form of inquiry. The controversy has also intensified demands for accountability and transparency from the state administration.
However, the identity of the minister has not been disclosed, and Dr. Talluri has not publicly released the evidence she claims to possess.
