The allocation of Rajya Sabha tickets by the TDP-led alliance has triggered widespread criticism and social media backlash, exposing growing dissatisfaction within both the TDP and Jana Sena ranks. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh are facing criticism over the selection of candidates, with party workers and supporters questioning the preference allegedly given to wealthy individuals and political loyalists while sidelining long-serving senior leaders and aspirants.
Across Facebook, X, YouTube, and Instagram, party sympathizers and netizens have been posting critical comments, memes, and videos targeting the alliance leadership. Many TDP supporters have expressed frustration that senior leaders who have served the party for decades were once again overlooked, while influential and financially powerful individuals received preference. The controversy has also generated dissatisfaction within Jana Sena, where supporters are openly questioning the party leadership’s decisions.
Particular criticism has been directed at Nara Lokesh, with some party workers alleging that despite publicly displaying respect toward senior leaders, opportunities were ultimately reserved for those close to his circle. The exclusion of veteran leaders such as Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Varla Ramaiah, and Kambhampati is being widely discussed among party cadres.
Within Jana Sena, criticism has intensified over the decision to allocate a Rajya Sabha seat to Lingamaneni Ramesh through the party’s quota. Several supporters have pointed out that Pawan Kalyan had previously criticized Lingamaneni’s controversial Karakatta residence, questioning how the same individual could now receive a Rajya Sabha nomination. Social media users have accused the party of abandoning its stated principles and acting contrary to its earlier positions.
Another issue generating debate is the nomination of Chintakayala Vijay. Critics have circulated past remarks attributed to him against Chiranjeevi and questioned why Pawan Kalyan remained silent despite those comments. Several Jana Sena supporters and Mega fans have taken to social media asking how a person who allegedly made derogatory remarks against Chiranjeevi could be rewarded with a Rajya Sabha ticket.
The alliance leadership is also facing questions over its commitment to women’s empowerment. Despite repeatedly advocating 33 percent reservation for women and passing resolutions on the subject at Mahanadu, critics point out that not a single Rajya Sabha ticket was allotted to a woman. Women leaders and supporters have questioned whether the commitment to women’s representation has been reduced to resolutions and speeches rather than actual implementation.
A viral video by a Jana Sena woman supporter declaring, “We are self-respecting Kapus; we will not serve anyone,” has further amplified the debate. The video has sparked extensive discussion among Jana Sena cadres, many of whom are expressing concern that the party’s independent identity is being weakened.
The Rajya Sabha nominations have thus become more than a candidate-selection exercise, revealing simmering discontent within the ruling alliance. With criticism now emerging not only from opposition parties but also from within TDP and Jana Sena’s own support base, the controversy continues to dominate political discussions and social media platforms across Andhra Pradesh.
