Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday called upon party leaders and grassroots cadre to get ready for the local body elections, asserting that public anger against the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government is rising sharply across Andhra Pradesh and that the YSRCP must convert that mood into victory.
YS Jagan held a meeting at the party central office in Tadepalli with YSRCP local body public representatives, leaders and key activists from the Rajahmundry Rural Assembly constituency. Addressing them, he said the local body elections must be fought with a clear goal of victory and asked the party cadre to remain constantly among the people.
He said the “backstabbing party” coalition government is facing severe resentment from the public within just two years of coming to power. No section of society is happy, he said, adding that students, farmers, women, elderly people, employees, traders and every other section have been betrayed by the failure of Chandrababu Naidu to fulfil promises made before the elections.
YS Jagan cautioned the cadre that the ruling coalition would try to use the police to ensure that the public anger against the government does not reflect in the local body elections. “We must face everything and fight like a battle. We have immense public support and we will certainly win,” he said.
Law and Order has Collapsed
YS Jagan said law and order in the State has deteriorated to a dangerous level. Sand, soil and liquor mafias are operating freely, while systems have collapsed to such an extent that even police personnel are being caught while transporting ganja, he said.
He said conspiracies are being created to divert public attention from such incidents. The administration, instead of protecting people, is allowing criminality and political interference to dominate public life, he said.
Dr. Priyanka case Suppressed
Referring to the incident in Rajahmundry, YS Jagan said Dr. Priyanka was brutally killed by repeatedly ramming her with a car. Despite the seriousness of the crime, attempts were made to suppress the case and prevent it from coming out, he said.
He alleged that the police and ruling party leaders are working hand in glove and that such collusion has made justice difficult for ordinary people. The Dr. Priyanka case, he said, reflects the dangerous state of governance and policing under the present regime.
Every Section betrayed
YS Jagan said Chandrababu Naidu, as Chief Minister and president of the “backstabbing party,” has betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh. Not a single election promise has been honoured, he said.
Students are unhappy, farmers are unhappy, women are unhappy, elderly people are unhappy, employees are unhappy and traders are unhappy. Every section of society has been affected by the coalition government’s failures, he said.
This is why strong public resentment has developed against the coalition government within just two years, he said. At the same time, public support for YSRCP is increasing day by day.
People comparing YSRCP rule with Coalition Rule
YS Jagan said people are now comparing the five years of YSRCP governance with the present coalition government’s rule. This comparison is taking place in every household, he said.
People are discussing what they received during YSRCP rule and what they have lost under the present government. The betrayal of promises, collapse of governance and rise of mafias have become subjects of public anger across the State, he said.
Padayatra in One Year
YS Jagan told the cadre that his padayatra will begin in another year, and elections will follow the year after that. Whenever elections are held, victory will belong to YSRCP, he asserted.
He asked party leaders and activists to work continuously among the people, remain available to them, expose the failures of the coalition government, and prepare strongly for the local body elections.
YS Jagan said the party enjoys overwhelming public support and must face every challenge with courage. The local body elections, he said, should be treated as a people’s battle against betrayal, failed promises and misuse of power.
