In a heartbreaking incident that has shaken the conscience of the state, a pregnant woman lost her life allegedly due to medical negligence at the Polavaram Government Hospital. The woman, identified as Sirisha, had arrived at the hospital late at night with labor pains — but what followed was a series of delays, indifference, and, ultimately, tragedy.
According to her grieving family, Sirisha was in distress when she was taken to the hospital near Polavaram Police Station. But instead of receiving urgent care, she was left waiting. There was no doctor on duty, and the nursing staff reportedly failed to act swiftly. Her condition worsened through the night.
By morning, when a doctor finally arrived, the situation had spiraled beyond control. The doctor reportedly advised immediate transfer to the Rajahmundry Government Hospital, but it was too late. Sirisha died on the way — her life cut short before she could even hold her child.
The incident has also sparked a political storm. The opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) held the ruling TDP government responsible for the failing healthcare system. In a strongly worded social media post, YSRCP questioned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, saying, “A pregnant woman died because there was no doctor available. Is there a bigger example of this government’s failure?”
The hashtag #CBNFailedCM quickly began trending as citizens voiced their anger over the crumbling state of government hospitals.
