YS Jagan flays Naidu’s “Demonic Rule”

Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy unleashed a fierce critique of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s governance, labeling it a “demonic rule” that has eroded democratic values. Addressing YSRCP representatives from five districts at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, Jagan rallied his cadre to fearlessly confront political persecution and prepare for a robust fightback.

Jagan met with YSRCP public representatives from Ramachandrapuram Municipality (Konaseema), Parvathipuram Municipality (Parvathipuram Manyam), Yelamanchili Mandal (West Godavari), Ramagiri Mandal (Sri Sathya Sai), and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). The gathering included MPPs, Vice-MPPs, municipal chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, councillors, MPTCs, corporators, and key district leaders, who discussed the challenges faced under the current regime.

“Fearless politics in Kaliyuga”

Jagan declared that Andhra Pradesh is living in a “demonic era” under Naidu’s rule, marked by a moral decline in politics. “We are in a Kaliyuga where politics demands fearlessness. Cases and jails should not intimidate us. Only with courage can we survive and thrive in politics,” he asserted, accusing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of resorting to arbitrary arrests and fabricated cases to suppress YSRCP workers.

A “Demonic Era” of Politics

Jagan stated that the TDP is brazenly undermining democracy in local body by-elections. “They are murdering democracy in broad daylight,” he said, citing instances where TDP claims victories despite lacking majorities. In Tiruvuru, despite YSRCP holding 17 of 20 councillors, TDP attempted to poach members and stalled elections with police support, arresting YSRCP leaders while letting TDP supporters roam free. Similar irregularities were reported in Narsaraopet (YSRCP: 13, TDP: 3), Karampudi (YSRCP: 8, TDP: 6), and Ramagiri (YSRCP: 9, TDP: 1), where TDP allegedly manipulated outcomes.

Jagan also praised YSRCP’s resilience in Yelamanchili, where the party secured 14 seats against TDP’s 4, thwarting poaching attempts. “Despite their tactics, our cadre stood firm and won,” he said, condemning the TDP for encouraging illegal practices while occupying the Chief Minister’s office.

YSRCP’s Legacy of Inclusive Governance

Reflecting on YSRCP’s tenure, Jagan highlighted their commitment to ethical governance. “We never targeted anyone, unlike Chandrababu’s regime. In Tadipatri, despite TDP’s 18 seats to our 16, we ensured a fair election by placing our MLA under house arrest to prevent interference,” he said. Through programs like “Jaganannaku Chebudam” and “Spandana,” YSRCP resolved issues for all, including TDP supporters, with direct CMO follow-ups. “We resolved more TDP supporters’ issues than anyone else,” Jagan claimed.

Naidu’s betrayal of promises

Naidu is betraying voters with unfulfilled election promises. “Chandrababu promised to outdo YSRCP’s welfare schemes, but he has scrapped them all,” he said, pointing to the dismantling of Aarogyasri (₹3,600 crore in pending bills), Aarogya Asara, and agricultural support like minimum support prices and free crop insurance. Education initiatives like English-medium schools, Nadu-Nedu, and student tablets have also been abandoned, leaving the poor in distress.

Infrastructure and Development Stalled

Jagan contrasted YSRCP’s achievements with Naidu’s failures. “We initiated three ports, including Mulapeta in Srikakulam, and completed 30% of the work. Chandrababu is now selling them for commissions,” he alleged. YSRCP’s efforts in tribal areas, including engineering and medical colleges, a tribal university, and super-specialty hospitals, are being neglected. The Bhogapuram airport, which saw 30% progress under YSRCP after securing land and approvals, is now stalled.

Action against injustice

Jagan condemned the TDP for fabricating evidence and filing false cases against YSRCP leaders. He cited the harassment of social media activist Paleti Krishnaveni, dragged from Hyderabad to police stations, and former MP Nandigam Suresh, a Dalit, repeatedly jailed on flimsy grounds. Former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi faced 11 cases, with new charges filed each time he secured bail. “Chandrababu is sowing seeds of injustice that will grow into a mighty tree of public anger,” Jagan warned.

He urged the cadre to document injustices in any “book,” promising retribution. “Even if they retire or flee the country, we will bring them back and show them their place. Our time will come,” he declared, assuring that YSRCP 2.0 would prioritize workers. “I see your struggles. In our next government, the worker will be number one,” he vowed.

Public Discontent and prospects

Jagan claimed that Naidu’s government has sparked unprecedented public resentment within a year. “People despise Chandrababu for his broken promises. In the next election, they will kick his government out like a football,” he predicted, challenging TDP to match YSRCP’s door-to-door campaigns. He highlighted YSRCP’s fulfillment of 99% of its manifesto promises, a record unmatched in India, and expressed confidence in forming the next government. “Darkness will give way to light. We will win,” he affirmed.

Mobilizing for fight ahead

Jagan called for intensified grassroots efforts, urging cadre to form booth, mandal, and district committees to expose the government’s failures. “We must fight vigorously and highlight their wrongs to the public,” he said, emphasizing the crucial role of YSRCP’s workers and leaders in the upcoming struggle.
