The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that heavy rains are likely to lash both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next three days. People are being advised to stay alert, especially those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Monsoon Nearing Kerala:
Officials say the monsoon winds are expected to reach Kerala within two days, marking the beginning of the rainy season. This shift is expected to bring widespread rains to many parts of South India, including the Telugu states.
Low-Pressure Area in Arabian Sea
A low-pressure area has formed over the Arabian Sea, and it may develop into a cyclonic system. Due to this, rainfall is expected in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Rainfall Alerts:
Andhra Pradesh: Districts like NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, and Krishna are likely to receive heavy rains with thunder and lightning in the next two days.
Telangana: Yellow alert has been issued in six districts as rains may continue for the next four days.
Another Low-Pressure to Form Soon:
The weather department also mentioned that on May 27, another low-pressure system is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal, which could strengthen the incoming monsoon further.
Public Caution Advised:
Authorities have asked the public—especially fishermen, farmers, and tourists—to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
Farmers Take Note:
Farmers are advised to wait before starting sowing activities. Early rains may not be consistent, and sudden heavy showers could affect the crops.
