For years, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu was regarded as a symbol of success in Indian cinema. With consecutive hits, record-breaking box office numbers, and a place among the industry’s topheroines, she lived in an environment where constant competition and achievements defined herworth.
But today, Samantha sees life differently. Speaking at a recent event in Delhi, the actressrevealed how her diagnosis with myositis, a rare autoimmune condition, transformed herperspective on success, happiness, and health.
“Earlier, I dreamt of having five releases a year, starring in blockbusters, and staying in the Top10 heroines list. My self-worth was completely tied to box office results. Every Friday, I wouldworry that someone else would replace me,” she admitted.
That relentless pursuit of numbers and recognition took a back seat after she went public inOctober 2022 about being diagnosed with myositis. The condition causes the immune system toattack the body’s own muscles, leading to inflammation, weakness, and fatigue.
For Samantha, the past two years have been drastically different. She has had no new releases, noblockbuster milestones, and no 1000-crore films to her credit. Yet, she says, she feels morecontent than ever.
“Today, I am genuinely happy. I’ve realized that success is not only about numbers but aboutwell-being. Health is the real priority,” she shared.
The actress is now channeling her experience into creating something meaningful for her fans. She plans to launch health-focused podcasts, offering easy access to reliable information that canempower people to take better care of themselves.
