The jubilant celebrations of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2025 victory turned tragic at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, when a stampede claimed 11 lives and injured over 50 people. In response, the Karnataka government and law enforcement agencies have taken prompt and firm measures to investigate and ensure accountability.

Immediately following the incident, Bengaluru Police detained RCB’s Marketing Head, Nikhil Sosale, as he attempted to leave for Mumbai. Alongside him, three senior staff members of the event management company DNA Entertainment—including Event Manager Ravi Sharma, Operations Lead Sudheer Kaul, and Coordinator Amit Reddy—were arrested. These arrests mark a decisive step toward uncovering lapses in event planning and crowd control.

The Karnataka High Court expressed strong condemnation over the lack of basic safety arrangements during the massive event. It directed the state government to initiate a thorough probe into the causes of the tragedy. Acting on this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the CID to complete the investigation within 15 days.

Furthermore, key police officials, including Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar H. Tekannavar, and Kabbal Park Police Station Inspector Girish A.K.L, were suspended to hold law enforcement accountable for lapses in crowd management and security enforcement.
