Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President, unleashed a scathing critique of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s governance, accusing him of turning pre-election promises into a “Babu Surety Mosam Guarantey” (Chandrababu surety’s are like guarantees of deception). Addressing the media on the heels of the Governor’s speech on February 24 and the state budget presented on February 28, Jagan painted a stark picture of unfulfilled assurances, inflated figures, and systematic betrayal of Andhra Pradesh’s people. With facts, figures, and a palpable sense of urgency, he positioned this press meet as a megaphone for the opposition’s voice, one he claims has been stifled in the Assembly
Former CM YS Jagan, who reiterated that as YSRCP is the only opposition in the Assembly and it should be rightfully given the due status and cited the example of Delhi Assembly where BJP with three members was given the Opposition status, asserted that to implement all the Super Six schemes announced during electioneering, the government needs to allocate Rs 79, 867 crore and there is no trace of such a figure in the budget nor in the budget speech.
Naidu’s Budgets: A Tale of Two Deceptions
“Chandrababu Naidu has presented two budgets, and both show one thing: deception,” YS Jagan stated. He contrasted Naidu’s pre-election slogan, “Babu Surety, Future Guarantee,” with a post-election reality he dubbed “Babu Surety as Guarantee of Deception.” The budgets, he said, are steeped in two themes: blaming others and self-praise. “Naidu’s speeches still revolve around ‘Jagan did this, Jagan did that,’ instead of delivering on his own promises,” Jagan noted, setting the stage for a deep dive into unfulfilled pledges.
Mirage of Jobs and unemployment allowance
YS Jagan zeroed in on Naidu’s flagship promise: Rs. 3,000 monthly unemployment allowance until 20 lakh jobs were created, costing Rs. 7,200 crore annually. “Where’s the money?” he asked. Neither last year’s budget nor this year’s mentions the allowance. Instead, the Governor’s speech claims 4 lakh jobs in nine months, while the Socio-Economic Survey boasts 27 lakh jobs in the MSME sector alone. “No budgetary provision, no real jobs just inflated figures,” Jagan said. “The youth have been deceived, owed Rs. 36,000 each year and Rs. 72,000 over two years.”
Governor’s Speech: A Booklet of Lies?
YS Jagan held up a booklet distributed with the Governor’s speech, touting Rs. 6.5 lakh crore in investments from giants like Google, ArcelorMittal, and TCS, alongside 4 lakh jobs. “No evidence just printed lies to mislead people,” he scoffed. He contrasted this with YSRCP’s record: 6.31 lakh government jobs, 1.02 lakh industrial jobs, and 32.79 lakh MSME jobs over five years totaling over 40 lakh verifiable positions. “We paid salaries, kept records. Naidu delivers nothing but paper promises,” he said.
Farmers Betrayed: The Annadata Sukhibhava Sham
Naidu’s promise of Rs. 20,000 annually under Annadata Sukhibhava for farmers separate from PM Kisan was a cornerstone of his campaign. Jagan crunched the numbers: with 53.58 lakh farmers needing Rs. 10,717 crore yearly, Naidu allocated just Rs. 1,000 crore last year (none disbursed) and Rs. 6,300 crore this year still short. “Each farmer is owed Rs. 40,000 over two years,” Jagan said. He recalled Naidu’s 2019 Rs. 87,612 crore farm loan waiver promise, which delivered only Rs. 15,000 crore. “Deception isn’t new for him,” he added.
Deepam Scheme: Gas Cylinders That Never Arrived
Naidu pledged three free gas cylinders annually under the Deepam scheme, costing Rs. 4,000 crore for 1.59 crore LPG connections. Reality? Last year, it shrank to one cylinder with Rs. 865 crore spent; this year’s Rs. 2,439 crore allocation falls short again. “Minimal funding, maximum deception,” YS Jagan said. “Numbers juggled to mislead, with no intent to deliver.”
Pension at 50: A Dream Dissolved
Rs. 4,000 monthly pension for BC, SC, and minority women at 50 requiring Rs. 9,600 crore annually was another Naidu vow. “Nothing allocated last year, nothing this year,” Jagan said. “Each eligible woman has been cheated of Rs. 96,000 over two years.” He accused Naidu of scrapping even existing pensions, cutting the count from 66.34 lakh under YSRCP to 62.11 lakh in 10 months, with a Rs. 5,000 crore budget shortfall.
Super Six and Seven: Rs. 79,867 Crore Mirage
Jagan tallied Naidu’s “Super Six” and “Super Seven” promises schemes like Aadabidda Nidhi (Rs. 32,400 crore), Talliki Vandanam (Rs. 13,050 crore), and free bus travel (Rs. 3,000 crore) totaling Rs. 79,867 crore annually. Last year, Naidu allocated Rs. 7,282 crore, spending just Rs. 865 crore; this year’s Rs. 17,179 crore is a fraction of what’s needed. “A massive shortfall proves his ‘Babu Surety’ is a sham,” Jagan said.
Naidu’s Discriminatory Governance
Jagan recounted Naidu’s public statement in Gangadhar Nellore: “Don’t give schemes or benefits to YSRCP supporters.” “Whose money is this? Its the people’s money, not Naidu’s personal wealth, he is just a custodian of the state,” he thundered. “He swore to govern without bias, yet discriminates openly. Is it lawful for such a man to remain CM?”
YSRCP’s Legacy vs. Naidu’s Dismantling
Jagan juxtaposed YSRCP’s achievements Rs. 2.73 lakh crore in corruption-free DBT welfare, 17 medical colleges, four seaports, and revolutionary education reforms like Nadu-Nedu and Vidya Deevena with Naidu’s tenure. “We delivered pulav; Naidu promised biryani but gave neither,” he said, echoing public sentiment. Under Naidu, Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena are underfunded, with Rs. 7,100 crore owed to students, forcing dropouts and college closures.
Agriculture in Ruins
Jagan accused Naidu of sabotaging farmer-friendly YSRCP schemes free crop insurance, input subsidies, and Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) while failing chili farmers, with no procurement despite distress. “We spent Rs. 3,000 crore on the Price Stabilization Fund; Naidu allocates Rs. 300 crore and does nothing,” he said. The Amul partnership, which boosted milk prices, is also being dismantled, for his heritage business gain.
Employees Cheated
Naidu’s promises to government employees CPS/GPS introduction, Interim Relief, and timely salaries have evaporated, Jagan claimed. “Three DAs are pending, salaries delayed, and Rs. 2,944 crore slashed from university budgets,” he said. YSRCP regularized 3,000 contract employees; Naidu has stalled the rest.
Budget Lies Unveiled
Jagan dissected the budget, stating that Naidu inflates figures to mask failure. State debt, pegged at Rs. 6.46 lakh crore by the CAG, is falsely claimed as Rs. 10 lakh crore. Capital Expenditure dropped 48% in 10 months, yet Naidu projects a miraculous Rs. 40,000 crore next year. “Revenue’s down, but he claims 12.94% GSDP growth? how?” Jagan asked. “It’s a Baahubali Budget of deceit.”
The Opposition’s Fight
Stymied in the Assembly, Jagan vowed to keep fighting. “If they won’t give us a mic, I’ll speak through you,” he told the media. He announced a March 12 protest to demand Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena restoration, urging public awareness. “Naidu’s PhD is in lying,” he quipped, challenging the CM to rebut his facts.
Call to the People
Former CM YS Jagan ended with a plea: “The public must know the truth about this ‘big man’s’ governance empty words, broken trust, systematic betrayal.” From jobs to pensions, farmers to students, he framed Naidu’s rule as a betrayal of Andhra Pradesh’s aspirations. “We delivered verifiable results,” he said. “Naidu delivers only deception.”
