Anurag Kashyap Faces Backlash Over Controversial Remarks on Brahmins

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has found himself in the middle of a heated controversy after making derogatory remarks against the Brahmin community. His comments were made while expressing frustration over the delay in approval of his upcoming film, which is based on social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule.

Kashyap claimed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is deliberately blocking the release of his film. In an emotional outburst, he made a shocking comment saying he would “urinate on Brahmins,” a statement that quickly went viral and sparked public outrage.

Several Hindu and Brahmin organizations condemned the filmmaker’s words, accusing him of promoting caste-based hatred and disturbing social harmony. Many of these groups demanded action against him, with complaints reportedly being filed in multiple states.

In response to the backlash, Kashyap issued a clarification. He said he was sorry if his words hurt anyone, but also made it clear that he would not take his comments back. He further added that while people are free to criticize him, targeting his family with threatening phone calls is unacceptable.
