TDP targets YS Jagan’s fight against Privatisation & Spurious Liquor Scam
The spurious liquor scandal that has rocked Andhra Pradesh is now at the center of a political storm, with the ruling coalition attempting to divert attention as YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy prepares to visit the Narsipatnam Medical College.
While excise officials have already exposed the involvement of TDP leaders in running Spurious liquor units, the coalition is scrambling to shift the blame. Instead of answering how these factories mushroomed, who invested in them, and where the Spurious liquor is being supplied, the government has launched a campaign of diversion—dragging caste into the debate, floating “covert” theories, and even linking the scam to Africa.
TDP’s Diversion Playbook
- Spurious Covert Theory:
Despite excise raids proving that TDP’s Tamballapalle in-charge Jayachandra Reddy was involved in running a Spurious liquor unit, TDP leaders now claim he was a “YSRCP covert.” Yellow media and social platforms are amplifying this absurd claim. - Linking Peddi Reddy:
ABN anchor Venkata Krishna went further, weaving a tale that Jagan “planted” Jayachandra Reddy inside TDP to weaken the party. The Peddi Reddy family reacted sharply, questioning why TDP itself fielded Jayachandra Reddy against their own candidate if he was supposedly “close” to them. - African Connection Spin:
Yellow media even linked the Mulakalacheruvu case to a Cameroon liquor unit seized for irregularities, dragging in Reddys Global and indirectly mentioning Jagan’s younger brother Anil Reddy. YSRCP leaders condemned this as gutter-level propaganda. - Minimizing the Scam:
Despite the seizure of liquor-making equipment, spirit, and thousands of bottles, only small players are being booked while masterminds escape. Senior YSRCP leader Satish Reddy alleged the Mulakalacheruvu unit was meant to loot ₹500 crore in five years, but TDP twisted his remarks online.
Medical Colleges vs. Privatization
YS Jagan, during his rule, established 17 new medical colleges—seven completed and ten under construction. But the coalition is now handing them over to private entities under PPP mode, triggering widespread public opposition.
YS Jagan recently displayed pictures of the colleges and warned that PPP tenders would be scrapped once YSRCP returns to power. Cornered, coalition leaders started propaganda that “colleges don’t exist.” The Speaker even claimed there was no G.O. for Narsipatnam Medical College.
YS Jagan’s visit to the Narsipatnam college today has rattled the government, prompting a string of diversionary tactics.
Obstructing Jagan’s Visit
- Sudhakar Drama Replayed:
The 2020 episode involving Dr. Sudhakar, who created chaos on Vizag highway, is being revived. Dalit groups, allegedly backed by coalition leaders, are being pushed to demand an apology from Jagan. - Police Restrictions:
Vizag CP Sankrabrata Bagchi and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta have issued warnings, saying road travel security cannot be ensured. The DGP even threatened that if Jagan stops multiple times or draws big crowds, permission will be revoked, and cases filed against YSRCP leaders. - False Ministerial Claims:
Ministers Anitha, Savita, and Satyakumar, along with the Speaker, continue to make contradictory claims—showing incomplete buildings, alleging negligence, or denying approvals altogether.
YSRCP’s Counter
YSRCP leaders say the facts are clear:
- Jayachandra Reddy’s proximity to Lokesh ensured his clout.
- Spurious liquor was manufactured and supplied across Guntur and Godavari districts post-2024 elections.
- Big names in TDP are being shielded while small pawns are booked.
“Caught red-handed in the liquor scam, the coalition is desperately spinning falsehoods and dragging Africa, caste, and covert theories into play. And now, fearing Jagan’s Narsipatnam visit, they are hiding behind police warnings,” senior YSRCP leaders said.
Bottom Line
The spurious liquor scandal has exposed TDP leaders, but instead of accountability, the ruling coalition has unleashed diversion politics—targeting Jagan, inventing foreign link stories, and obstructing his Narsipatnam Medical College visit.
