Andhra Pradesh Braces for Heavy Rainfall Over the Next Three Days

అల్పపీడనం.. ఏపీలో భారీ వర్షాలు!

Andhra Pradesh is set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days, according to alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA). The forecast has raised concerns across the state, particularly in low-lying and coastal regions, as authorities urge citizens to stay alert and prepared for adverse weather conditions.

The rainfall is being attributed to a low-pressure system expected to form in the Bay of Bengal by tomorrow. This, coupled with the southwest monsoon (Nairuti Rutu Pavanalu) reaching the state, is likely to intensify rainfall across various districts. IMD forecasts suggest that the monsoon will extend its presence across Andhra Pradesh in the coming week, further increasing the likelihood of continuous and widespread rains.

Districts Under High Alert

The APSDMA has identified the following districts to be at high risk for heavy to very heavy rainfall today:

Alluri Sitarama Raju , Eluru ,Krishna ,NTR ,Guntur,Anantapuram ,Kurnool.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected in districts such as Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, East and West Godavari, Konaseema, Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, Sri Sathya Sai, and Nandyala.

Along with rain, the state is likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h. Coastal regions may witness winds up to 55 km/h, prompting authorities to advise fishermen not to venture into the sea under any circumstances.

Preparedness Measures and Warnings

The APSDMA has issued a series of advisories for public safety:

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas should be ready to evacuate if required.

Farmers are advised to safeguard crops and take preventive measures against waterlogging.

Travelers are urged to proceed with caution as water stagnation may affect roads and highways.

Fishermen are strongly warned against going into the sea due to dangerous wave conditions.
