Nationwide Railway Upgrade: Modi Flags Off 103 Stations, 4 in Telugu States

In a major push towards modernizing India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 103 Amrit Bharat Railway Stations from Bikaner, Rajasthan on May 22, 2025. These upgraded stations, part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), span across 18 states and union territories, covering 86 districts in total.

Among the newly launched stations, four are located in the Telugu states, including Warangal, Karimnagar, and Begumpet in Telangana, and Sullurupeta in Andhra Pradesh. These stations have undergone significant modernization aimed at enhancing passenger comfort, improving safety, and introducing smart infrastructure while incorporating local culture into their architectural designs.

With a total investment exceeding ₹1,100 crore, the upgraded stations now feature modern waiting halls, digital information displays, clean and accessible restrooms, elevators, escalators, and other facilities catering to the elderly and differently-abled. The Amrit Bharat scheme envisions the transformation of 1,300 railway stations across the country, with these 103 stations marking a key milestone in India’s railway development journey.
