Reports are emerging about TDP chief and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu constructing an opulent mansion (Rajamahal) in Capital Amaravati, close to the Secretariat. The new residence is said to span a massive 25,000 square yards, built with top-tier luxury and architectural grandeur. The foundation stone for this project is reportedly set to be laid on April 9.
Adding fuel to speculation, political circles are abuzz with claims that a minister is collecting funds for this construction. Social media users are actively discussing this development, drawing parallels to Chandrababu’s past real estate ventures and questioning the source of his finances.
Extravagance Built with Alleged Illicit Funds
This is not the first time Chandrababu’s expensive tastes have made headlines. His Jubilee Hills mansion in Hyderabad is a testament to grandeur—featuring Italian marble floors, extravagant chandeliers, rare artistic decor, and an exotic terrace garden with foreign plants. Critics argue that such an expensive property was built using commissions from Amaravati’s capital city designs during his previous tenure as Chief Minister.
Back in 2017, the TDP government selected Tokyo-based Maki & Associates for Amaravati’s urban design, with an initial fee ofRs. 87 crore. However, when the firm refused to comply with Naidu’s conditions of including specific associates, he allegedly sidelined them. The contract was then awarded to London-based Norman Foster, and the fee skyrocketed fromRs. 67.86 crore toRs. 250 crore, raising serious concerns about inflated commissions.
Amaravati House funded by new Contracts?
Since returning to power in 2024, the ruling alliance has reportedly awarded 59 overpriced contract packages, leading to whispers within political circles about how commission money is being funneled into personal projects. Insiders claim:
- Contractors who benefited from TIDCO housing projects were made to fund the TDP central office in Mangalagiri.
- Contractors who received Amaravati development works allegedly funded Chandrababu’s Jubilee Hills mansion.
- Recent government contracts worth thousands of crores were awarded to handpicked firms, some allegedly linked to TDP leaders.
Here’s a look at some of the major contract allocations:
- NCC Ltd. –Rs. 6,124.08 crore
- BSR Infra –Rs. 6,216.47 crore
- RVR Projects –Rs. 6,031.79 crore
- Megha Engineering –Rs. 7,022.38 crore
- MVR Infra (linked to Lokesh’s relative) –Rs. 796.04 crore
A Mystery House in Kuppam
For years, Chandrababu faced criticism for not owning a house in Andhra Pradesh, despite serving as Chief Minister multiple times. During his previous tenure, he resided in a five-star hotel and a controversial riverbank house in Undavalli—a property linked to businessman Lingamaneni, raising concerns over favoritism.
In 2022, he began construction of a personal house in Kuppam, his home constituency. The project is now nearing completion, with reports suggesting zero personal expenditure, further fueling debates about hidden wealth.
Public Questions Wealth Accumulation
Chandrababu’s extravagant real estate empire has raised serious concerns about the sources of his wealth. Netizens and political observers question—if just his houses have such financial irregularities, how much more undisclosed wealth could exist?
