Once again, unseasonal rains have dealt a cruel blow to farmers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Just as they were preparing to harvest their hard-earned crops, heavy rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds have brought devastation.
Farmers in regions like Rayalaseema, the Godavari and Krishna districts in AP, and Khammam, Warangal, and Adilabad in Telangana are facing severe losses. Crops such as banana, mango, cotton, and corn have been badly hit, and harvested paddy has been soaked, adding to their distress.
These rains have not only damaged crops but also broken the spirit of farmers who invested months of hard work and hope. In Vijayawada and surrounding areas, waterlogged roads led to traffic jams, further highlighting the chaos.
It’s a heartbreaking situation for those who feed the nation, and urgent support and relief are the need of the hour.
