With Assembly elections set to take place next year in Tamil Nadu, the political atmosphere in the state is heating up. Major parties like the ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK have already begun chalking out their strategies. Adding an interesting twist to the political landscape is actor Vijay’s political party, TVK (TamizhagaVetriKazhagam), which is preparing to make its electoral debut.
Is Vijay Leaning Towards the NDA?
There’s been a lot of buzz recently suggesting that Vijay’s TVK might be in talks to join the BJP-led NDA alliance. While nothing has been confirmed yet, sources from within the party hint that a final decision could be made by December.
Clarity After the State Tour?
Vijay is planning a statewide tour across Tamil Nadu soon. According to TVK leaders, the party’s stand on alliances and its political direction will become clearer only after this tour. They’ve said any decision about joining hands with another party will come later. Interestingly, TVK’s General Secretary, Adhav Arjun, stated that if Vijay does decide to align with the NDA, he would likely be projected as the alliance’s face in Tamil Nadu. Despite the existing BJP-AIADMK partnership, there are whispers that Vijay’s entry could shift the spotlight squarely onto him, with the BJP reportedly seeing him as a strong crowd-puller.
A Repeat of the Andhra Formula?
The possibility of a combined alliance in Tamil Nadu — similar to the recent NDA formula in Andhra Pradesh (which brought together TDP, Janasena, and BJP) — is also being discussed in political circles. Whether such a strategy will work in Tamil Nadu remains to be seen. For now, it’s a waiting game as the political pieces slowly fall into place.
