A high-profile birthday bash hosted by popular folk singer Mangli at Tripura Resort nearChevella, Telangana, has sparked a fresh drug controversy in Tollywood. The party, held aroundmidnight on June 10, was raided by the Excise Department and Special Operations Team (SOT)based on credible intelligence. The raid, conducted at around 2 AM, revealed shocking detailsthat have now sent ripples through the film industry.
Authorities tested 48 guests for drug consumption, out of which 9 tested positive for ganja use.
In addition, a large quantity of foreign liquor, allegedly served without valid excise permits, was
seized from the premises. Evidence of drug usage, including rolling papers and other drug
paraphernalia, was also found at the venue.
Legal action was immediately initiated under the NDPS Act, 1985, and the Sound Pollution Act.Mangli has been booked for hosting the party without proper permissions and violating excisenorms. The resort owner too has been charged for allowing illegal activities on the property.
The investigation is now focused on identifying the suppliers of the ganja and foreign liquor.Officials hinted that more people from the Telugu film fraternity may soon be summoned forquestioning as the probe widens.
