Putin Calls Modi, Pledges Russia’s Full Support to India

In a significant diplomatic development, Russia has extended unequivocal support to India in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which tragically claimed the lives of several innocent tourists. Russian President Vladimir Putin personally reached out to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express condolences and solidarity. The Kremlin strongly condemned the barbaric attack, which is allegedly backed by Pakistan-based terror groups, and assured India of Russia’s unwavering support in the fight against terrorism.

President Putin’s statement carried a stern warning that not only the perpetrators but also their supporters would face prosecution and severe punishment. He reiterated Russia’s long-standing position of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and emphasized that Moscow will stand shoulder to shoulder with New Delhi in bringing the culprits to justice.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi invited President Putin to attend the Annual India-Russia Summit 2025, which will be hosted in India. The external affairs ministry’s spokesperson, RandhirJaiswal, confirmed the conversation and Russia’s official stance through a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

While Russia’s declaration of support stands out as a firm diplomatic gesture, the United States has also conveyed its solidarity with India. U.S. Defense Secretary Hegseth contacted Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to express America’s deep condolences and pledged full support in India’s battle against terrorism.
