Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Dr. Subramanian Swamy has strongly criticized the Tirumala TirupatiDevasthanams (TTD) following the reported deaths of several cows in its gosala (cow shelter). Expressing outrage, Swamy condemned TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu’s recent statements and demanded an immediate investigation into the incident. He further announced his intention to approach the court to seek justice for the alleged negligence.
Swamy questioned whether the carcasses of the deceased cows were being sent to restaurants, a claim that sparked shock and concern. He emphasized that hundreds of cow deaths suggest a deeper conspiracy, pointing fingers at a growing commercial mindset within the TTD’s current administration. Swamy lamented that the once-transparent and accountable TTD Board has now become unresponsive and ineffective.
Reacting to B.R. Naidu’s remark that “just like aged people, cows also die,” Swamylabeled it irresponsible and heartless. He argued that such logic would never be applied to humans—aged or not—who would be taken to hospitals and given proper care. He alleged that the cows were being left without medical attention and appropriate care, leading to preventable deaths.
Swamy also came to the defense of BhumanaKarunakar Reddy, the whistleblower who brought the issue to light and is now reportedly facing legal action. Calling this an attempt to silence the truth, he demanded justice for both the cows and those seeking accountability.
Appealing to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Swamy demanded the immediate dismissal of TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu. He reminded that in Indian tradition and as per the Constitution, cows hold a sacred and revered status—not merely as animals, but as divine beings in Hinduism.
The issue continues to stir public sentiment, with Swamy’s remarks amplifying calls for transparency, accountability, and reform within TTD’s operations.
