TDP workers turn Predators, Coalition Govt shields rapists

Under Nara Lokesh’s disastrous tenure as Education Minister, Andhra Pradesh has become a hunting ground for sexual predators targeting school and college girls. In just six weeks (October–November 2025), at least 15 horrific cases of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and harassment-driven suicides have exploded across the state, most inside or around educational institutions. Ruling party workers and sympathisers are directly involved in many cases, yet political pressure is being openly used to kill cases, delay FIRs and even attack journalists.

TDP leaders themselves lead the assault

From Janasena youth leaders to senior TDP workers, the accused list reads like a coalition directory:

  • Ambedkar Konaseema: Jana Sena youth leader repeatedly raped his 11-year-old relative (Class 6); absconding after TDP-Jana Sena tried to force compromise
  • Kakinada (Tuni): 62-year-old TDP leader attempted rape on 13-year-old Gurukula girl
  • NTR district (Muppalla): TDP sympathiser and friend tried to rape 16-year-old
  • Anantapur (Tadipatri): TDP worker Mahesh attempted rape on married woman
  • Annamayya (Lakkireddipalli): TDP leaders held “panchayat”, released two accused who attempted rape on mentally challenged 15-year-old, then attacked Sakshi reporter at police station

Hostels turn into nightmares

Government welfare hostels, once considered safe havens, have become danger zones under Lokesh’s watch:

  • Rajamahendravaram welfare hostel girl raped in hotel; warden suspended only after outrage
  • Tirupati boys’ hostel watchman sexually assaulted two minor boys
  • Alluri district tribal girl kidnapped and gang-raped for 9 days; police moved only after tribal leaders met Collector

Harassment Driving Girls to Suicide

Unable to bear continuous torment or institutional pressure, four girl students ended their lives in this short span:

  • 17-year-old Lavanya (Chittoor) hanged herself due to college harassment
  • 21-year-old MBBS student Geethanjali (Nellore) on exam day
  • 14-year-old Jaswanthi (Kadapa private hostel) found hanging; DEO furious at management locking gates during inquiry

Political Interference at its worst

In almost every case, coalition leaders intervened to protect the accused: forced compromises, delayed FIRs, threats to victims’ families and physical attacks on media persons exposing the truth. Police remained mute spectators or active participants in the cover-up until higher officials or public protests forced action.

Golden Era Destroyed, Future in Darkness

While the previous YSRCP government rolled out Nadu-Nedu, English medium, IB affiliation push, bilingual textbooks, tablets, IFPs, Vidya Deevena, Amma Vodi, daily menu mid-day meals and instant fee reimbursement, the present regime has stalled everything. Job calendars vanished, APPSC drowned in political interference, and Lokesh’s only “achievement” remains AI dramas and jacket-clad photo-ops.

Education System on the Brink

Experts warn that when ruling party workers themselves stalk schoolgirls and the government shields them, the entire education system is in mortal danger. With hundreds of cases likely going unreported due to fear and pressure, parents are terrified to send daughters to school or hostel. The message from the coalition government is loud and clear: if you wear the yellow scarf, you can hunt with impunity. Until Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh are held accountable, no girl in Andhra Pradesh is safe, neither in classroom nor in hostel.
