Why North Andhra Roared.. Neglect, Loot, and Betrayal by the Coalition Govt

In backward North Andhra, the YS Jagan government had initiated historic plans in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. But in just 16 months, the coalition government dismantled them, privatizing medical colleges and betraying the people. At Narsipatnam Medical College, thousands roared alongside YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, protesting this injustice.

Neglect of Education & Healthcare:

YS Jagan procus Rs. 8,480 crore for 17 medical colleges, including four in North Andhra. Two were completed, two set to open in 2025–26, but coalition negligence stalled progress. Each college promised teaching hospitals, hostels, labs, and free super-specialty care. Jagan also built an Rs. 80 crore, 200-bed Super Speciality Kidney Hospital in Palasa, while hospitals in Seethampeta, Parvathipuram, a cancer care centre, and cardiac hub in Vizag were near completion. The Rs. 16,520 crore Nadu-Nedu scheme modernizing hospitals was shelved.

Land Loot & Crony Deals:
Coalition leaders gifted away valuable lands:

  • 60 acres worth Rs. 3,000 crore in Vizag to URSA Cluster for 99 paise per acre.
  • 13.74 acres worth Rs. 679 crore leased to Lulu at throwaway price.
  • Rs. 1,500 crore land at Madhurawada handed to Sattva Developers for Rs. 45 crore.
  • Dalit lands grabbed in the name of data centres.

MLAs’ Exploitation & Harassment:
Illegal sand mining, land mafia, and attacks on officials and journalists became rampant. Jana Sena MLA Sundarapu Vijay Kumar assaulted a Sakshi journalist; Minister Atchanna forced out AP Agro GM for resisting corruption.

Jobs & Employees Ignored:
No new jobs except one DSC, unemployment allowance denied, DA/PRC withheld. Employees are protesting harassment by coalition MLAs.

Steel Plant & Sugar Factory Betrayal:
YS Jagan had stalled Vizag Steel Plant privatization, but now 32 units were privatized, 5,000 workers sacked, 2,000 forced into VRS. Chodavaram Sugar Factory was revived with Rs. 89 crore under Jagan, but now dues of Rs. 35 crore remain, affecting 24,000 farmers.

Bulk Drug Park & Vendors’ Plight:
Ignoring 4,500 acres of govt land in Nakkapalli, land acquisition began at Rajayyapeta, sparking protests from 10 fishing villages. In Vizag, 4,500 stalls were demolished, affecting 40,000 livelihoods.

YS Jagan Stood by Victims:

  • Rs. 26 lakh to 13 families in Vizianagaram diarrhea deaths.
  • Rs. 1.23 crore to 18 families in Achyutapuram SEZ tragedy.
  • Rs. 14 lakh to Simhachalam wall collapse victims
  • Rs. 10 lakh to families of two Kurupam hostel girls who died of jaundice.

Failure in Education:
Nadu-Nedu schools were modernized with labs, digital boards, RO plants, hostels, and toilets. The coalition halted it, leading to collapse of facilities. At Kurupam hostel, ignored RO repairs led to water contamination, 170 children fell ill, 2 died.
