In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, Hyderabad has come under the security scanner as part of the Centre’s nationwide crackdown on Pakistani nationals. The Union Home Ministry, led by Amit Shah, has instructed all states to trace and deport Pakistani citizens residing in India, and Telangana has quickly sprung into action.
Hyderabad, being a key metropolitan city with a sizable foreign population, is currently home to 208 Pakistani nationals, according to Telangana police. The breakdown of their visa status is as follows:
156 are staying on long-term visas
13 hold short-term visas
39 are here on business visas
Officials have confirmed that all of them are being closely monitored. With the Centre cancelling Pakistani visas and setting a deadline of April 27 for their return, local law enforcement is actively collecting updated records and ensuring compliance.
