YS Jagan’s vision for empowerment and accountability

YS Jagan's vision for empowerment and accountability

Tadepalli, July 1: In a rousing address at the YSRCP Youth Wing meeting held at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy galvanized the youth cadre, emphasizing their pivotal role in strengthening the party and holding the current government accountable. The meeting, attended by young leaders, former MLAs, and party coordinators, was a clarion call for organizational growth, grassroots activism, and leveraging social media to amplify the party’s message.

A call to action for Youth

YS Jagan began by underscoring the indispensable role of the youth in the YSRCP’s mission to champion the people’s cause. “The Youth Wing is the lifeblood of our party,” he declared. “Your energy and dedication are key to challenging the anti-people policies of the current government.” He urged the young leaders to work tirelessly to fortify the party’s structure, stating, “The opportunity to grow as leaders is in your hands. Your hard work will shape the future of YSRCP.”

Reflecting on the party’s origins, YS Jagan shared a personal anecdote: “When we started YSRCP, it was just me and my mother. Those who believed in me joined us, and from there, our journey began.” This narrative set the tone for his message of resilience and commitment, as he highlighted how the party, despite facing political adversities, never compromised on its values or credibility.

Recalling past triumphs

YS Jagan took the audience through YSRCP’s remarkable journey, recalling the party’s early challenges and triumphs. “In the by-elections after our formation, we secured the highest majority in the country,” he said, referring to the 2012 by-polls where YSRCP won most of the 18 contested assembly seats, leaving rivals like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Congress reeling. He recounted how, despite attempts to undermine the party—such as the defection of 23 MLAs after the 2014 elections—YSRCP remained steadfast, eventually rising to power in 2019 with 151 seats.

“When 18 MLAs joined us, I made them resign to face the people’s verdict in by-elections,” YS Jagan said, emphasizing his commitment to democratic principles. “We won those elections resoundingly, proving that the people’s trust is our greatest asset.”

Empowering the Youth to lead

YS Jagan’s speech was a blueprint for the Youth Wing to evolve into a dynamic force. “Being accessible to the people is paramount,” he advised. “When someone faces an issue, stand by them. A warm greeting and genuine empathy can go a long way in building trust.” He encouraged the youth to see themselves as future leaders, stating, “Your political growth depends on your efforts, but I will support you in nurturing your potential.”

To strengthen the party’s structure, YS Jagan announced the appointment of working presidents for the Youth Wing across zones, many of whom are young leaders who contested as MLAs. “These leaders will guide you, but the real work lies in your hands,” he said. “Bring capable individuals into the party fold and make YSRCP a well-organized force.”

Harnessing social media as a weapon

In a digital age, YS Jagan emphasized the power of social media as a tool for advocacy. “Everyone of you must be active on social media,” he urged. “It’s a weapon to bring the truth to light, whether it’s exposing injustices, highlighting government failures, or amplifying the struggles of the common people.” He called on the Youth Wing to use these platforms to ensure that critical issues reach the public’s attention, fostering awareness and accountability.

A legacy of welfare and resilience

YS Jagan’s speech also touched on the YSRCP’s governance record, echoing sentiments from party coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who recently praised the party’s transformative welfare schemes in education, healthcare, and minority welfare. YS Jagan contrasted this with the current coalition government’s failures, burdening people with increased electricity charges and neglecting welfare promises. “The coalition is resorting to conspiracies to suppress us because thousands gather wherever I go,” he said, pointing to the public’s enduring support for YSRCP.

A vision for future

The meeting concluded with YS Jagan’s call to evaluate their performance continuously and adapt to challenges. “Assess your work regularly and bring efficiency to everything you do,” he advised. “The YSRCP is not just a party; it’s a movement for the people. Let’s strengthen it together.”

As the Youth Wing members left the meeting, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose. YS Jagan’s words had not only inspired them but also laid out a clear roadmap for transforming their passion into action. With a focus on organizational strength, public engagement, and digital outreach, the YSRCP Youth Wing is poised to play a critical role in shaping Andhra Pradesh’s political future.
