Malayalam actor Vishnu Prasad (49), known for films like Runway, Lion, and Ben Johnson, passed away Friday, due to a liver-related illness. Hailing from Thuravoor, Alappuzha, he began his acting journey as a child artist in Kochaniyan (1994) and went on to appear in several notable films.
Despite his talent, Vishnu struggled for recognition and openly criticized nepotism in the industry, particularly being denied membership in AMMA. He was married to actress Anu Sithara, who often acknowledged his support in her career.
In his final days, Vishnu’s family exhausted their financial resources and resorted to social media fundraising for his medical treatment. His death has drawn widespread sorrow and reignited discussions about the Malayalam film industry’s responsibility toward its struggling artists.
