False Cases and Illegal Arrests
Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy and her husband Srinivasulu Reddy have been misusing political power to target YSR Congress Party cadres. Unable to control growing dissent within their own Telugu Desam Party ranks, the couple has resorted to filing false cases and ordering illegal arrests against YSRCP workers.
Origin of the Controversy
In the past, senior TDP women leaders themselves publicly abused Madhavi Reddy in viral social media videos. These videos were originally created and circulated by TDP leaders. However, instead of acting against their own party members, the MLA and her husband directed police action against YSRCP activists who merely forwarded the posts.
The Arrest of Khaja – A Political Target
A striking example is the arrest of Khaja, PA to former minister Anjadh Basha. Acting on a complaint from Srinivasulu Reddy, the police detained Khaja in Hyderabad and brought him to Kadapa, parading him before the media with a mask as if he were a dreaded terrorist. This excessive action was nothing but political vendetta against Anjadh Basha.
Magistrate’s Strong Reprimand
When the case was presented in court, the magistrate sharply rebuked the police. The judge questioned how sharing a forwarded post could warrant arrest, reminding them that only a 41A notice should have been issued. The magistrate refused remand, ordered Khaja’s immediate release, and condemned the police’s overenthusiasm under political pressure.
Internal Revolt Within TDP
The dictatorial attitude of Madhavi Reddy and her husband has triggered revolt even within the TDP itself. Many senior party leaders in Kadapa have opposed their dominance, complaining that the couple behaves as if the party were their family estate. The attempt to silence this internal dissent by targeting YSRCP workers has further exposed their authoritarian tendencies.
A Pattern of Ego-Driven Politics
This is not an isolated incident. In the past, Madhavi Reddy has frequently been in the spotlight for petty ego battles. She pressured the government to remove Mayor Suresh Babu on false charges simply because he did not place a chair next to hers. On Independence Day 2025, she created controversy by attacking senior officials (JC, DRO) for not allotting her a prominent seat at the official function.
Conclusion
The repeated misuse of authority, illegal arrests, and petty vendetta politics of MLA Madhavi Reddy and Srinivasulu Reddy expose both their inability to handle dissent in their own party and their dangerous misuse of police machinery against YSRCP cadres. Ultimately, even the courts have had to intervene to check their abuse of power.
