Ex-MP GorantlaMadhav Gets Bail in Custodial Assault Case

YSRCP ex-MP GorantlaMadhav, who had been in judicial remand at Rajahmundry jail since April 11th, was granted conditional bail on Monday evening. He was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police on charges of obstructing police duties and manhandling an accused in custody—iTDP activist Chebrolu Kiran. The incident occurred when GorantlaMadhav, along with five others, allegedly stopped a police vehicle transporting Chebrolu Kiran—who was arrested for making derogatory comments against YSRCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife Y.S. Bharathi—and attempted to assault him.

As part of his bail conditions, GorantlaMadhav is required to personally visit the Palem police station in Guntur every week for two months and sign in. He was granted bail upon furnishing a deposit of Rs. 10,000 along with sureties from two individuals. The five others involved in the case, who were also held in remand at Rajahmundry jail, were granted bail as well.
