BCCI Suspends IPL 2025 Amid Security Crisis, Eyes Post-England Series Resumption

In a dramatic turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) amidst escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan.

The turning point came during the 58th match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala, which was abruptly abandoned after 10.1 overs due to a power outage caused by a larger security protocol failure. In response, the BCCI convened an emergency meeting with franchise owners, broadcasters, and security agencies, resulting in a unanimous decision to suspend the league indefinitely to ensure the safety of players, staff, and fans.

At the time of suspension, 12 league matches and the entire playoff phase were yet to be played. While initial discussions explored relocating the remainder of the tournament to the UAE, logistical constraints arose due to the Pakistan Super League securing venues there for its remaining fixtures.

According to sources close to the BCCI and key cricketing insiders, a fresh window is being considered for the balance of IPL 2025 — most likely after the conclusion of the India-England bilateral series, which is set to commence in June. The BCCI is expected to release an updated schedule officially.
