The Chandrababu government is taking out its grudge on farmers. Instead of ensuring fair prices, it is pushing them into distress. Instead of giving assurance, it has backstabbed them. While farmers cry in despair, the rulers are busy celebrating. Tomatoes are being dumped by the roadside, yet the government turns a blind eye. Onion farmers find no one to wipe their tears. Farmers stand in queues day and night for urea, but the government shows no compassion. Since the coalition came to power, the food providers of the state have been left with nothing but misery.
Tomato Farmers forced to Dump crops
Tomato farmers are neck-deep in losses, with prices crashing to just ₹1–₹1.50 per kg. Unable to recover even labour costs, they have been forced to dump produce by the roadside and return home humiliated.
Onion Farmers Betrayed
In Kurnool, onions are selling at less than ₹3 per kg. The government had promised procurement at ₹1,200 per quintal but failed to act. On the ground, middlemen exploit farmers under the government’s watch, leaving farmers in tears.
Banana and Sugarcane Farmers Devastated
Banana and sugarcane farmers are ploughing back their fields after failing to get remunerative prices. Rains worsened the damage, yet the government has not extended input subsidies or relief as done under the previous YSRCP government.
Urea Crisis Exposes Government Failure
For over two months, farmers have been queuing day and night for urea, even in the CM’s own Kuppam constituency and the Agriculture Minister’s Tekkali seat. After denying any shortage, Chandrababu was forced to admit failure in front of collectors, blaming it on “human error.”
No Fair Price Across Crops
● Mango: Prices have plunged from ₹22–₹29 under YSRCP to barely ₹2 now.
● Paddy: Despite promises of 24-hour payments, farmers wait for months, losing ₹300–₹400 per bag due to arbitrary deductions.
● Cocoa: The promised procurement at ₹550 per kg never materialized.
● Aqua farmers: Pushed to ruin with prices collapsing from ₹280 per 100 count under YSRCP to ₹200–₹220 now.
● Chilli: Prices have fallen from ₹27,000 per quintal during YSRCP to just ₹8,000–₹10,000.
● Tobacco: Once sold at ₹366 per kg, tobacco now struggles to fetch ₹200, leaving farmers burning bales in protest.
A Government Against Farmers
Instead of providing support, Chandrababu’s coalition government has systematically dismantled farmer welfare measures:
● RBKs made defunct
● Rythu Bharosa slashed from ₹40,000 to ₹5,000
● Free crop insurance scrapped
● Input subsidies delayed indefinitely
Conclusion
Chandrababu Naidu’s rule has left farmers abandoned and betrayed. From crashing prices to urea shortages, from broken promises to dismantled welfare, every policy reflects a government that seems to hold a grudge against the very food providers of the state.
