Power in Lokesh’s hands - a Madman’s theatrics

Power, when placed in irresponsible hands, turns dangerous—and the latest episode in Andhra Pradesh proves it yet again. What was nothing more than a private family dispute was cynically converted into a statewide fake-news spectacle to target YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Unable to confront YS Jagan politically, Minister Lokesh chose the path of distortion, intimidation, and manufactured outrage, confirming public fears about the reckless use of authority.

A big lie that launched the drama

A brazen falsehood was pushed across yellow media and social platforms claiming that a YSRCP worker kicked a pregnant woman on her stomach during YS Jagan’s birthday celebrations. Ministers, MLAs, and ruling-party voices amplified the lie without verification. The truth, however, dismantled the narrative entirely: the accused, Ajay, has no link to YSRCP, never carried its flag, and is in fact a Janasena supporter, with a Pawan Kalyan tattoo and Janasena imagery across his social media.

What actually happened

On December 21, as YS Jagan’s birthday was being celebrated voluntarily across the state, an incident occurred in Muthyalavaripalli village, Tanakallu mandal, Kadiri constituency. Ajay was bursting crackers when his pregnant relative Sandhya Rani objected. A verbal argument followed, escalating into a brief scuffle in which she fell after being pushed. She was immediately taken to the hospital, where medical scans confirmed that both mother and unborn child were safe. Doctors categorically ruled out any injury to the stomach, no kicking ever occurred

A family dispute, not political violence

The incident stemmed from long-standing internal disputes among ten interrelated families, all belonging to the Scheduled Caste community and dependent on daily wages. These families have a troubled history of conflicts, including earlier disputes involving relatives on both sides. These facts were well known locally—but deliberately erased to paint the episode as political violence.

From dispute to Political spectacle

Even before facts could settle, yellow media rushed to the hospital, recorded selective statements, and rolled out a toxic narrative. Once the issue reached Minister Lokesh, the drama escalated into a show of power. Thirty to forty police personnel were deployed into the village, creating fear and tension. Ajay was arrested and paraded publicly on the road, turning law enforcement into a stage prop. The spectacle was glorified as “strong action,” with sections of the media even comparing it to authoritarian policing styles.

Truth surfaces, but damage done

After two days of relentless misinformation, the truth finally emerged. Relatives clarified that the episode was purely a family quarrel. It became undeniable that Ajay was a Janasena supporter, not a YSRCP worker. A Janasena MPTC from Palasamudram attempted to convey the facts to party leadership and local representatives, urging that the truth be shared publicly—but these efforts were ignored. Family members later lamented that their private lives had been destroyed for politics, leaving them humiliated and fearful.

The Pattern exposed

This episode lays bare a disturbing pattern: branding a Janasena supporter as YSRCP, dragging YS Jagan’s name into a private dispute, spreading lies despite clear medical evidence, unleashing police power for optics, and ruining the life of a 22-year-old Dalit daily-wage worker to manufacture outrage. This is not governance; it is madman’s political theater, where truth is irrelevant and power is used to perform, not to protect.

Power without restraint

When authority is used to stage dramas instead of delivering justice, democracy suffers. What Andhra Pradesh witnessed was not leadership or law enforcement—it was state power reduced to a prop in reckless political theatrics. And when theatrics replace truth, the damage is not just political—it is deeply human.
