Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed strong criticism of the Chandrababu-led
government’s actions on the X platform. He stated:
“In a democratic system, the right to question and express dissent are foundational principles. The Constitution grants people the right to raise their issues and seek solutions. However, unfortunately, in Andhra Pradesh, the Chandrababu government is ruthlessly suppressing these fundamental democratic rights. By
blatantly misusing the police machinery and their authority, they are stifling the voices that dare to question. The situation has reached a point where one
wonders if we are living in a democracy or under a dictatorship.”
False Cases and Harassment
“The government cannot tolerate people raising their issues or the opposition speaking up in their support. They are resorting to extreme harassment, fabricating baseless cases to silence voices, and ensuring no one dares to question them. No one in the state is being spared in this process, and it severely undermines the
spirit of democracy and citizens’ rights.”
“Their primary objective appears to be systematically dismantling the democratic system, eliminating the opposition, and ensuring no dissenting voices remain. The actions of this government, both past and ongoing, clearly reflect a deliberate attempt to suppress democracy.”

Cases for Meeting Tobacco Farmers

Conspiracy to Restrict Public Participation
“In every case, they name a few individuals and vaguely add ‘others’ to later implicate their targeted individuals. They impose severe restrictions to prevent people from
attending my tours. YSRCP leaders and activists are issued notices and placed under house arrest in advance. Even farmers are confined to their locations to prevent them from participating. Checkpoints are set up arbitrarily to obstruct people.”
Undermining Democratic Spirit
“There is only one opposition in the state, and it is the one fighting for people’s issues.Yet, CM Chandrababu is continuously attempting to suppress our party through
the misuse of power. Filing false cases, making arrests, and harassing people have become routine. This not only undermines the democratic spirit but also silences the voiceless.”
“They made lofty promises but failed to implement them, and now they ensure no one questions or speaks about it. This government is acting in an utterly deplorable manner.”
