VeerayyaChoudhary’s Murder: Crime of Greed, Framed as Politics?

The shocking murder of TDP leader VeerayyaChoudhary in his own office has rocked Andhra Pradesh. Stabbed over 40 times by masked attackers, his death appears more like a calculated act of revenge than a random crime. But as the investigation unfolds, the focus seems to be shifting from truth to politics.

Veerayya was known for his aggressive style and deep involvement in the liquor trade across Prakasam district. Locals say he managed several liquor and belt shops, holding a powerful stake in a controversial network that generated huge profits. Disputes over these profits and control may have triggered his murder, pointing to personal and financial motives.

Despite these strong leads, the ruling party has quickly labeled the killing a political assassination, blaming the opposition. Critics believe this is a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from the liquor mafia and protect internal interests.

Adding to the political drama, the state’s Home Minister, often accused of inaction on major crimes, visited the hospital and announced special teams to probe the case. The Chief Minister even attended Veerayya’s funeral — actions that many see as political theatre rather than genuine concern.

Locals and even some within TDP argue that Veerayya’s complex past — including alleged criminal cases and liquor dealings — is being swept under the rug in favor of a political narrative. They’re demanding an honest investigation that goes beyond blame games and uncovers the real reason behind his brutal death.
