The Telangana government has launched an ambitious initiative to construct a modern and expansive High Court complex at a cost of Rs. 2,500 crore. Designed to be one of the most prestigious judicial infrastructures in India, the project will be developed over 100 acres in the Agricultural University campus at Rajendranagar, Ranga Reddy district. The DEEPI agency has been tasked with executing the project, which is expected to be completed within two and a half years.
The new High Court building will follow the architectural style of Osmania Arts College and will consist of 10 distinct blocks, covering a total built-up area of 36.52 lakh square feet. The main court building alone will span 8.4 lakh sq. ft., spread over six floors. It will house the Chief Justice’s court hall, bungalows for judges, and special chambers for the Advocate General (2.32 lakh sq. ft.) and lawyers (1.58 lakh sq. ft.). A 42,500 sq. ft. auditorium, secure record-keeping blocks, and administrative offices are also part of the blueprint.
Beyond courtroom facilities, the plan includes comprehensive residential quarters for judges and staff, green landscaping, and leisure spaces such as parks and clubhouses. A standout feature is the parking infrastructure, which will accommodate up to 3,000 vehicles within a 9.33 lakh sq. ft. area. The complex will also include essential services like a security block, electricity substation, and a bio-waste management plant, making it fully self-contained.
Supervised by a High Court construction committee, the project will also be monitored by the Roads & Buildings Department to ensure quality standards and timely fund disbursal. With 27 major sections planned, including an Admin Block and Judges’ Plaza, the new Telangana High Court complex aims to meet the growing demands of the state’s judiciary and set a national benchmark for modern legal infrastructure.
