The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Mithun Reddy’s anticipatory bail plea in the liquor case by two weeks, while extending its previous order directing that no arrest be made until the next hearing.
Arguments regarding Mithun Reddy’s anticipatory bail were heard in the Supreme Court, following which the court decided to adjourn the case for two weeks. In the interim, the court reiterated that the MP cannot be arrested.
Senior advocates Abhishek Singhvi and Niranjan Reddy, representing Mithun Reddy, informed the court that their client has been fully cooperating with the investigation. They emphasized that Mithun Reddy had personally attended the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry recently, demonstrating his willingness to assist the probe.
In line with Supreme Court directions, the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (AP CID) filed a counter to Mithun Reddy’s anticipatory bail application.
The defense team sought two weeks’ time to file a rejoinder to the CID’s counter. The court accepted their request, setting the stage for the next hearing after the two-week period.
