Vijayawada Shatavahana College Demolition Triggers Outrage: Students’ Futures at Risk

కిడ్నాప్‌తో ముదిరిన వివాదం.. శాతవాహన కాలేజ్ కూల్చివేత

In a shocking development that has shaken Vijayawada, the overnight demolition of Shatavahana College has raised serious questions about political interference, law enforcement inaction, and the safety of student futures in Andhra Pradesh.

The incident follows the alleged kidnapping of college principal Vankayalapati Srinivas on May 30 near D-Address Mall, reportedly over a land dispute. Srinivas accused TDP MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad of threatening and abducting him to force property-related agreements. He claimed to possess call recordings and WhatsApp evidence, which brought the issue into public focus and triggered political uproar.

Just days later, in the dead of night, unknown individuals arrived with JCBs and demolished major portions of the college campus, reportedly under the protection or influence of politically connected individuals. Crucially, key student academic records, certificates, and examination data were still inside the buildings, buried under rubble. The loss of records has thrown hundreds of students into distress, many of whom are now uncertain about their admission prospects, job applications, and academic certifications.

Police intervened only after partial demolition was completed. Despite widespread public outrage, no concrete action has been taken yet against those responsible, leading to widespread criticism of the AP Police and government machinery.

Student unions and educationists condemned the act as a violation of academic sanctity, urging the state government to immediately recover lost records, ensure student protection, and take legal action against those involved. Meanwhile, political blame games have intensified, with YCP leaders alleging TDP’s misuse of power, and the public demanding transparency and accountability.
