The politics of pressure appears to be intensifying within the state’s ruling coalition, as fresh allegations emerge against BJP MLA from Jammalamadugu, C. Adinarayana Reddy. The legislator is under fire for reportedly coercing cement factories to hand over raw material supply contracts to his loyalists—ignoring established agreements and industry norms.
According to sources, Adinarayana Reddy has been mounting intense pressure on managements of cement units in the region, particularly those in Chilamkur and Yerraguntla, demanding that all raw material transport contracts be handed over to his associates. While some of his earlier demands were reportedly met, the MLA is now said to be insistent on monopolizing the contract allocations entirely.
The issue escalated dramatically on Thursday when followers of the MLA, irate over the factories’ refusal to revoke existing contracts with other companies, allegedly blocked lorries carrying raw materials to the Chilamkur cement plant. This brought cement production to a halt—an economic and logistical setback to the industrial operation. A similar standoff is reportedly brewing at a Yerraguntla-based plant, where vehicles transporting fly ash from the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant were stalled.
Industry insiders say such interference is creating chaos in the supply chain and sending a wave of concern across the cement corridor in YSR District, a region pivotal to Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure and industrial output.
This isn’t the first time Adinarayana Reddy’s name has surfaced in controversy. The MLA had earlier made headlines due to internal conflicts with fellow BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP C.M. Ramesh, indicating a simmering factionalism within the saffron camp.
Critics argue this latest episode is part of a broader pattern where leaders of the coalition government are allegedly leveraging their political clout to extract economic gains. “What we are witnessing is not governance, but a takeover of systems by a few individuals with vested interests,” said a local political observer, requesting anonymity.
