A major case of administrative negligence has come to light at the prominent government-run MGM Hospital in Warangal. In a surprise inspection conducted on Saturday by Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy and MLC Baswaraju Saraiah, several doctors were found absent from duty and sanitation conditions were reportedly poor. The public representatives expressed serious dissatisfaction over the situation.
Taking swift action, MLA Naini called the Warangal District Collector and explained the lapses in the hospital’s functioning. The Collector promptly ordered an inquiry and directed that memos be issued to negligent staff. Following this, hospital superintendent Dr. Kishore Kumar identified staff who had not signed attendance registers or were absent without justification and issued memos to 77 personnel — a first in the hospital’s history for such a large-scale disciplinary action.
MGM Hospital serves not only Warangal city but also surrounding rural areas, making it a critical healthcare hub. Such negligence in a major public health facility poses a significant risk to patient care and safety. The current disciplinary action is expected to serve as a warning to other government hospitals across the region.
This incident has underscored the urgent need for transparency and discipline within public healthcare institutions. While immediate action has been taken, experts stress the importance of long-term systemic oversight and positive reinforcement for staff to ensure accountability and quality healthcare delivery.
