A serious tense situation prevailed early Thursday morning in Pujari Kanker area of Warangal district. As part of Operation Kagar, security forces have been conducting intense combing operations for the last three days.
With information that nearly 2,500 Maoists are present in the forests of Karriguttalu, a special operation was undertaken. On Thursday morning, tension flared up as Maoists carried out a counter-attack on the central forces.
In the heavy exchange of gunfire that took place during this time, five Maoists were reported killed. It is noteworthy that the sounds of gunfire are still being heard from the incident site. The central forces took control of the Karrigutta region and launched a large-scale search operation. Officials estimate that the number of dead may increase further.
Due to the sound of firing, people in nearby villages are spending time in fear and anxiety.
Since this area has earlier been a stronghold for Maoist activities, security forces are said to be on high alert. To support the combing operations inside the forest, three helicopters were used to transport drinking water, food supplies, bombs, guns, and other weapons from Bijapur and Mulugu districts.
The situation remains tense, and security forces continue to monitor the region closely.
