Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited film OG hit a shocking roadblock in North America—just twodays before release, all shows were abruptly canceled. The reason? Allegations of unethicalpractices by the film’s distributor, Prathyangira Cinemas.
York Cinemas, the region’s biggest theater chain, revealed that some distributors pressured themto artificially inflate ticket sales, allegedly to boost the market value of future South Asian films.Worse, there were claims that certain distributors tried to create cultural and political tensionswithin local communities. Concerned about public safety and unwilling to participate in suchchaos, York Cinemas decided to pull the film entirely and promised refunds to all pre-bookedtickets.
Adding to the drama, delays in delivering the film’s content caused the Tamil version to beofficially canceled in North America, though the Telugu and Hindi versions are still scheduled torelease. Fans are left disappointed, and the episode highlights how fragile international filmdistribution can be when business politics and unethical practices collide.
