Coalition ChaosAndhra’s Descent into lawless rule

For the past 10 months, Andhra Pradesh has been gripped by a wave of lawlessness and tyranny under the coalition government, transforming the state into what many are calling a modern-day dystopia. The ruling alliance, comprising the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena, has unleashed a reign of terror marked by rampant violence, intimidation, and unchecked power. From MLAs to their followers, coalition leaders have turned the state into their personal fiefdom, where their word is law, and dissent is met with brutal retaliation. As the state spirals into chaos, critics argue that Andhra Pradesh is fast becoming India’s Venezuela, a land where democracy is suffocating under the weight of authoritarian rule.

The Dawn of Arrogance

The coalition’s ascent to power in June 2024 set the tone for what was to come. Early on, Minister Achchennaidu brazenly declared that TDP leaders should be greeted with chairs and tea, a chilling precursor to the entitlement and arrogance that now define the government. What followed was a relentless barrage of atrocities: assaults on citizens, threats to officials, destruction of property, and a systematic silencing of the press. The coalition’s MLAs and their cronies, likened to the barbaric “Kalkeya” tribe from mythology, have operated with impunity, leaving a trail of fear and devastation in their wake.

A Litany of Atrocities

The evidence is staggering. In Tadipatri, TDP MLA Asmith Reddy forced an honest Circle Inspector to apologize under duress, showcasing the coalition’s disdain for law enforcement. In Nellore Rural, an MLA’s follower grabbed a police officer by the collar, yet no action was taken. In Kurnool, TDP MLA Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy attacked individuals from the Boya community with a stick, while in Narasaraopet, MLA Chadalavada Aravind Babu orchestrated an assault with deadly weapons in his own home, leaving victims battered and justice absent. In Allagadda, TDP workers rammed a YSRCP activist with a jeep before dragging him to MLA Akhila Priya’s residence for a merciless beating, all without consequence.

Power Unleashed, Citizens Crushed

The coalition’s audacity knows no bounds. In Echerla, MLA Eswar Rao’s followers attacked a bar shop, while in Jammalamadugu, BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s kin stormed an Adani hydro project, vandalizing property and extorting contracts. In Kakinada’s Prathipadu, Jana Sena in-charge Tammayya Babu assaulted a government doctor, hurling abuses captured in a viral video. Meanwhile, in Srikakulam, TDP MLA Sitaram demanded Rs. 1 crore monthly from a scrap dealer, threatening dire consequences for non-compliance. Victims who speak out find themselves slapped with fabricated cases or subjected to further violence, a vicious cycle that ensures silence.

The Silenced Fourth Estate

The media, too, has borne the brunt of this oppression. Journalists face death threats and physical attacks for daring to report the truth. An MLA in Tadepalligudem warned reporters of being stripped and beaten, while another in Kavali vowed to “chop off” dissenters. The coalition’s wrath spares no one, not even those tasked with upholding the law or informing the public.

A Timeline of Terror

* June 7, 2024: TDP cadres raided a bar in Narasaraopet, looting Rs. 1.4 lakh worth of liquor and issuing ultimatums to traders.

* July 12, 2024: In Allagadda, a YSRCP worker was hit by a jeep and tortured at an MLA’s home.

* August 6, 2024: In Don, TDP MLA Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy beat Valmiki youths with a stick, forcing them to kneel.

* October 28, 2024: In Nellore, MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy attacked port security personnel over a routine check.

* December 14, 2024: In Uppalanka, a fisherman attempted suicide after an MLA’s aide demolished his shop.

A Government Distracted by Revenge

The coalition government, instead of curbing these excesses, remains preoccupied with vendetta politics, wielding a so-called “Red Book” to settle scores. Over the past 10 months, the state has witnessed a litany of documented atrocities, hundreds of incidents of violence, extortion, and abuse of power. From demanding crores in kickbacks to assaulting women and Dalits, the coalition’s leaders have turned Andhra Pradesh into a battleground where might trumps right.

A State on the Brink

As the state marks a grim milestone, 10 months of coalition rule on March 10, 2025, citizens are left asking: Where is the accountability? With the government shielding its own, and the opposition crushed under retaliatory strikes, Andhra Pradesh teeters on the edge of anarchy. The coalition’s “Kalikeya” reign has not only shattered lives but also the very fabric of democracy, leaving a once-proud state to wonder if deliverance will ever come.
