Amaravati Reconstruction Begins Today with PM Modi’s Visit

The reconstruction of Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, officially begins today (May 2), with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects. He is scheduled to arrive at Gannavaram Airport by 3:30 PM and will head to Amaravati to participate in multiple inauguration events and address a public meeting.

This is the second time foundation works for Amaravati are being initiated. The first foundation stone was laid on October 22, 2015. At that time, the government acquired around 33,000 acres of land. Now, the state is planning to procure additional land to expand the capital’s development.

PM Modi will lay the foundation for the Permanent High Court, Secretariat, Assembly building, residential quarters for judges, MLAs, ministers, and All India Services officers. Several projects under central schemes will also be inaugurated.

The state government has completed all arrangements for the event, setting up three stages, with one main stage hosting PM Modi, CM Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM PawanKalyan, and 11 other dignitaries.

An “Amaravati Pavilion” has been set up to present visuals of the city’s history, land acquisition policies, and architectural plans. Around 5 lakh people are expected to attend, with 6,600 buses arranged. Eleven key access routes and parking zones have been prepared. The SPG is overseeing security, with bans imposed on drones and black balloons in the area.
