A grave controversy has shaken Tirumala devotees after an idol was found discarded amidstfilth, urine, and liquor bottles near the Alipiri old checkpoint. The shocking sight of the sacredidol has triggered anger across Hindu organizations, with many demanding answers from theTirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Former TTD Chairman Bhuman Karunakar Reddy, who inspected the site, strongly condemnedthe incident, calling it an unpardonable insult to Hindu Dharma. Overcome with emotion, he saidthe sight of Lord Vishnu’s idol lying in such disgrace brought him to tears.
While some ruling party leaders attempted to dismiss the controversy by claiming the idol was ofShaneswara Swamy, Bhuman exposed their falsehood, pointing out the idol bore shankha andchakra—the divine symbols of Lord Vishnu. He asserted that this was not the negligence of amere sculptor but a reflection of the TTD board’s failure to safeguard the sanctity of Tirumala.
Bhuman, who served twice as TTD Chairman, demanded the resignation of the current boardmembers and urged CM Chandrababu Naidu, seers, and Hindu organizations to interveneimmediately. He declared that protecting Hindu Dharma is above politics, vowing to continue hisfight even if false cases are filed against him.
For devotees, this incident is not just about an idol—it is about the sanctity of Tirumala, and theTTD’s negligence has deeply hurt the faith of millions. The call for accountability is now louderthan ever.
