What began as a tragic accident during a political rally has now spiraled into a murky controversy that has rocked Andhra Pradesh’s political and policing landscape. The death of YSRCP worker Cheeli Singayya, who died on June 18 during former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Sattenapalli, is now under a cloud of suspicion, allegations, and political blame games.
A Death That Didn’t Sit Right
Initial reports said Singayya died after being accidentally run over by a vehicle in Jagan’s convoy. But what seemed like an unfortunate mishap has since taken a darker turn.
His wife, Lourdes Mary, has publicly raised serious doubts about the nature of her husband’s death. “How could he die with such minor injuries?” she questioned, visibly distressed. Her statement has ignited speculation that what happened inside the ambulance on the way to the hospital may have been far more than meets the eye.
She alleges there was a deliberate delay in medical attention, and hints at a possible conspiracy, suggesting her husband may not have died from the accident alone.
Political Pressure or Political Plot?
The situation took a sharper political edge when Lourdes Mary accused a group of around 50 individuals allegedly linked to Minister Nara Lokesh of visiting her home. According to her, they tried to coerce her into giving a scripted statement, even claiming to be from her caste to win her trust.
She further alleged that police showed her video footage and pressured her to sign documents — raising serious concerns about police neutrality and possible intimidation.
FIR Filed — But Truth Remains Elusive
Following her initial complaint, a case was registered by Guntur police. The driver was named as the prime accused (A1), but shockingly, Jagan Mohan Reddy and several YSRCP leaders were also included in the FIR.
This move has triggered outrage from YSRCP sympathizers, who are calling it a politically motivated witch hunt. Former minister Ambati Rambabu went a step further, accusing the police of bringing a pre-written complaint to manipulate the grieving family.
Contradictions & Confusion
Interestingly, Lourdes Mary’s recent statements appear to contradict the original FIR, leading to even more questions. Was her initial complaint genuinely hers? Was it altered under pressure? And who is orchestrating this behind the scenes?
Her shifting version has now sparked broader concerns about police conduct, political interference, and the truth being buried under political calculations.
